Recycled Eames

Brief

  • This project focuses on recycling, repairing and reusing products.
  • Too many products are thrown away simply because they are old, unwanted and people have no time to fix them.
  • The Eames chair used in this project is a great example, as it was discarded because it was dirty and the armrests were broken.
  • To repair, reuse and recycle it, the chair was cleaned up, polished and new armrests were made from cheap and sustainable OSB chipboard.
  • The design of the wooden armrests resembles the old metal, hollow armrests and, although they have been sanded and are now soft, the wooden texture is still present to show the chair has been repaired.
  • The chair is now in use and fully functional.
