Bamboo Toy Bicycles

Brief

• This project is about sustainability and craftmanship.
• The design of these bicycle toys demonstrates that small products may be crafted well by hand to create intricate products from a "green" material, bamboo.
• Bamboo is strong and sustainable. It is a renewable resource that absorbs greenhouse gases. It has an amazing growth rate with very little waste and it is a very versatile material.
• Many products are mass produced by machinery but this design combines machinery with hand craftmanship. All the wooden pieces have been laser-cut then stuck together using wood glue.
• Bamboo is used as a food and in construction work so it interesting to experiment with it and to create interesting designs.
